Mirror (2017)
A collaborative noise piece integrating traditional American Indian flute


Raven Chacon is a composer of chamber music, a performer of experimental noise music, and an installation artist. He performs regularly as a solo artist as well as with numerous ensembles in the Southwest USA, and is also a member of the American Indian arts collective Postcommodity. Recent commissions include works written for Kronos Quartet and The Living Earth Show. Chacon has presented his work in different contexts at Vancouver Art Gallery, ABC No Rio, REDCAT, La Biennale di Venezia – Biennale Musica, San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, Chaco Canyon, Ende Tymes Festival, 18th Biennale of Sydney, and The Kennedy Center among other traditional and non-traditional venues. His work with Postcommodity was recently featured in the Whitney Biennial and documenta 14. Chacon is an ArtCenter alumnus. He lives and works in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Timothy Archambault is an American Indian flute player, composer and architect based in Miami. His American Indian Flute repertoire includes traditional Canadian Algonquin flute songs (recorded for the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian Archives in 2007), early 20th-century American Indian flute music, and new compositions by American Indian composers: Raven Chacon (Navaho), George Quincy (Choctaw), and David Yeagley (Comanche). He has recorded with The Polish National Radio Symphony (Opus One), AM Records, The Coast Orchestra, The Bronx Arts Ensemble (Lyrichord), The Queen’s Chamber Band (Lyrichord), The TICO Orchestra, and The Oklahoma City University Philharmonic. He is a Hereditary Senator of the Kichesipirini Algonquin First Nation, a member of the Métis Nation of Quebec, First Nations Composer Initiative and co-founder of the art collaborative, The Creative Destruction.
