subtropics 25

keep your eyes on the radar about our next milestone, Subtropics 25 when you’ll be able to hear live people peopling with joy all of the repressed creativity our artists have reserved for this Miami celebration now slated for September 2021

FM Soundpaintings

Subtropics 25 will showcase the world premiere of FM: Soundpaintings — a 120-channel orchestral set of variations on a theme by our own Frozen Music colleague, sound artist David Dunn. This arrangement of the original has been adapted and augmented by the members of FM specifically for the Constellation sound system at Soundscape Park

Amplifying the multichannel sound experience typical of Frozen Music will be an HDR, high resolution enhanced version of the film 60 Sound Paintings, a visual representation of Dunn’s theme. This performance commemorates the first duo-decennial of Frozen Music

Subtropics 25 is possible with the support of the City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Culture, Cultural Arts Council, and the Miami Beach Mayor and City Commissioners; and Miami-Dade County Mayor, the Board of County Commissioners and the Cultural Affairs Department; The New World Symphony; and The Blank Family Foundation.
