Frozen Music (Gustavo Matamoros, Rene Barge, and David Dunn) is an experimental sound artist collective and performing ensemble that designs and realizes immersive sound environments in response to the acoustical characteristics of a given site. Their latest work, ‘Paranormal’ captures the often-unnoticed or overlooked sounds of the Deering Estate through this most recent project. Through an extensive survey of the property, FM has elevated the unheard acoustics of the Estate for audiences to create a sound portrait – a curated composition that celebrates the auditory elements of the subject. FM’s sound-portraits, or ‘retratos,’ immortalize these unique auditory profiles.
