Jack Wright: Solo Saxophone

SAT JUL 15, 2017 | 9PM

Audiotheque
ArtCenter/South Florida
924 Lincoln Road, 201
Miami Beach, FL 33139

Jack Wright is a saxophonist who has performed exclusively as a free improviser since discovering the practice in 1979. Thus, he has no musical ideas prepared in advance; each time he has played in front of others over the decades he has faced the same open field of possibility.

Not knowing what to do is what excites him. In the process of doing this, and influenced by a large number of partners from touring North America countless times, he has expanded his vocabulary to become quite possibly the widest of any saxophonist on the planet. Be prepared to hear practically everything the saxophone can do.

Jack Wright is also the author of, The Free Musics and will be conducting a workshop about the subject on Sunday, July 16, 2017, 2-4PM, the day after this performance. (see workshop entry)
