Gustavo Matamoros will perform for the first time in Miami his evening long homage to David Tudor written for four channels of sound. The piece was created for the 2016 David Tudor Symposium at Wesleyan University where it received its premiere performance.
The composition emerges from multiple recorded sound sources, some generated from scratch in the studio and others from urban and natural settings, such as the Florida Everglades, The work explores the psychology of recorded sound, the morphologic and timbral relationships shared by sound gestures of contrasting origins, the sonic identity of diverse environments as heard through different microphones, and the time-based experience of positioning and relocating sound within the listening space.
