Improvements come from experience, in order to produce something innovative to your senses. Improvements can manifest themselves in many forms, improvements of skill, improvements of form, improvements of technique, etc. When it comes to sound, sound art, noise, music – artists that are always trying to innovate look towards improvements of all aspects of the piece they are trying to present. Improvements can be very subjective whereas some might see playing a Violin with Cymbal as an improvement, others might not.

The works that I chose to play for this session of the listening club – highlight works that produced a “new experience” for me personally, sometimes they were directly associated with a new Improvement or Innovation of Structure, Format or Sound, and other times the experience was more subtle but the end result was that the work sounded new and exciting within the context of my musical, sound listening experience.
