Enjoy a steamy performance of jazz, poetry and politics, as celebrated poet, author and producer Jayne Cortez and her band, The Firespitters “burst through the door with both barrels blasting.” The band features saxophonist Talib Kibwe and alumni of Ornette Coleman’s Prime Time, drummer Denardo Coleman, bassist Al MacDowell and guitarist Bern Nix.

Adrian Castro, who writes in the rhythmic Afro-Cuban/Caribbean tradition pioneered by Nicolás Guillén and Luis Pales Matos; Jan Sebon!, a Haitian-born poet, musican and painter, who has published two books of poetry, and is president of Koleksyon Kazak, Inc.; and Kiki Wainwright, a Haitian poet, vocalist, dancer and actor, and co-founder of the Miami branch of Sosyete Koukouy will perform their poetry backed by a multi-national group of Miami-based jazz musicians.
